From Baby to Preschool Swimming

If you are looking for baby swimming through to preschool lessons, our Bristol based swim school introduces parents and children to the enjoyment of water play in a safe and happy environment whilst teaching valuable water safety skills.

We have a range of parent and child swim classes from newborn and toddlers up to pre-school age and our aim is to improve water confidence whilst learning how much fun swimming can be.

Our little swimmers can progress at their own pace through a range of swim classes from initial water safety and enjoyment to learning a wide range of swimming strokes.

Our Benefits section provides information on why taking a baby swimming from an early age is so valuable. Here's a few key points for starters:

water baby

Baby swimming has been proven to aid development in many areas, both physical and psychological. By encouraging a newborns natural reflexes, they can move freely through and underwater from a very early age.

Parents play an active role in the pool and taking a baby swimming from an early age provides an excellent opportunity for relaxation and parent child bonding.

Infant swimming classes increase self confidence as children learn new skills and enjoy the social side of the classes.

Water safety is a common worry for many parents and a fear of water for whatever reason can be very limiting. Introducing babies to water at an early stage is the first step in avoiding such a fear and making swimming and water play an enjoyable experience!

Swimming Lessons

Splash 'n' Swim run weekly parent and child swim classes over a course of 9-10 weeks, each lesson lasting half an hour. Our baby swimming classes and todder swimming classes teach general water confidence and various safety skills such as surfacing, holding on and climbing out. During the lessons we use songs, games and repetition to teach these skills. Parents are in the water too to join in the fun of the classes ! Children can then move on to more advanced swim classes increasing water confidence, developing floating and breathing skills and learning the recognised swimming strokes.

We follow the STA Starfish and Rubberdubbers award schemes in our swim classes and our swimmers feel a real sense of acheivement as they receive their next badge! For more details on the course, visit the swimming Lessons section and take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions section.

Here's what our clients have to say:

“Really enjoying the swimming lessons that we're having with you! It is the highlight of the week and the best thing I've done with Emma so far!” Helen, mum of Emma (age 9 months)

“I just wanted to say how much I’ve enjoyed bringing Dex to the sessions, and how I feel it’s really helped his confidence in the water and my confidence in his going underwater” Sara, mum of Dexter (age 18 months)

“I think the classes are excellent and very well taught. I know the other Mums and I feel that you have given us Mums the confidence with our babies in the water” Nikk, mum of Zach (age 5 months)

"Because of your classes Jack had the most wonderful time in both Honolulu and Rarotonga. He was right at home in the water and we had the confidence to take him out into the water rather than just having him paddle his feet" Cath, mum of Jack (age 1 year)

“We had a great time on holiday and so much of that was down to the confidence that you have given Oliver and I in the water together!” Angela, mum of Oliver (age 1 year)
